Utah Uranium Corporation (UTUC) TraderNote – UTUC Gains Growth Potential in Lucrative Mining Interests

 

Utah Uranium Corporation (UTUC) closed yesterday at 0.93, a slight negative change of 0.02 or a slight decrease of 2.11% from the previous close of 0.95.  Utah Uranium Corp. (UTUC) is a natural resources company dedicated to the acquisition, exploration and development of uranium properties in the US. The Company’s main focus is the acquisition of past-producing underground uranium mines and high potential new uranium projects, as well as vanadium projects.  To date, UTUC has acquired mineral rights to 10,255 acres of leased or staked mineral uranium properties, either directly and through joint venture interests.  It seeks to acquire properties believed to contain economic quantities of uranium ore that have been previously explored but not yet mined.  Acquisition activity in 2008 will focus on additional mineral properties and claim blocks located in, but not limited to, the “Four Corners” area of the Western US, with a primary focus in Utah and Colorado.  In yesterday’s trading, UTUC traded a volume of 174,661 shares within the range of 0.92 – 0.99.  At present, it has 37.51M shares outstanding.  

 

Occidental Petroleum (OXY) TraderNote – OXY Boosted by Strong Demand for Crude Oil   

 

Occidental Petroleum (OXY) closed at 72.46, a positive change of 2.55 or an increase of 3.65% from the previous close of 69.91.  Occidental Petroleum Corporation, through its subsidiaries, primarily engages in the exploration, development, production, and marketing of crude oil and natural gas in the United States and internationally.  It holds interests in the Permian basin located in west Texas and New Mexico; Elk Hills oil and gas field in California; Hugoton field located in Kansas and Oklahoma; Horn Mountain oil field in the Gulf of Mexico; and the Piceance basin located in western Colorado.  With worldwide demand for both crude and its refined counterparts continuing to escalate, companies like Occidental have been well positioned to reap the benefits.  OXY traded heavily in yesterday’s trading with 6,989,112 shares within the range of 71.62 – 73.50, just below the 52-week and all-time high of 74.33, indicating a strong resistance somewhere at 72.75 level.  At present, OXY has 828.60M shares outstanding. 

 

Ivanhoe Mines (IVN) TraderNote – IVN Well-Positioned with Its Mineral Explorations in Asia and Mongolia

 

Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (IVN) closed yesterday at 10.84, a positive change of 10.84 or an increase of 1.03% from the previous close of 10.73.  Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (IVN) is an international mineral exploration and development company.  The company's principal mineral resource properties are the Oyu Tolgoi gold and copper project and the Nariin Sukhait coal project, both located in Mongolia. The IVN Group also holds interests in several other mineral resource projects, mostly in Asia, and holds equity interests in several mineral exploration and development companies.  Ivanhoe Mines is continuing to advance its wholly-owned Oyu Tolgoi copper and gold mine development project in Mongolia.  Also in Mongolia, the majority-owned SouthGobi Energy Resources is scheduled to commence coal mining in 2008 at its Ovoot Tolgoi deposit in the South Gobi Region, near the Mongolia-China border.  In yesterday’s trading, IVN traded 823,900 shares within the range of 10.53 – 11.00.  At present, it has 375.06 million shares outstanding.  

 

Hecla Mining Company (HL) TraderNote – HL Sets the Price of 1.75M Shares of Offered Preferred Stock at $100.00 per Share 

 

Hecla Mining Company (HL) traded heavily yesterday with 11,032,423 shares within the range of 6.36 – 12.57.  Hecla Mining Company, a precious metals company, engages in the discovery, acquisition, development, production, and marketing of mineral resources. The company involves in the exploration and development of mineral properties, as well as in the mining and processing of silver, gold, lead, and zinc.  It produces and sells metal concentrates to custom smelters on contract; and unrefined gold and silver bullion bars directly to customers or further refines before sale to precious metals traders.  Hecla Mining recently announced that it has set the price for the public offering of 1.75 million shares of 6.5% mandatory convertible preferred stock (“Preferred Stock”) at $100.00 per share. The Preferred Stock will pay, when declared by the Board of Directors, dividends at a rate of 6.5% per annum, payable quarterly.  Hecla Mining Company (Hecla) will pay dividends in cash, common stock or a combination of cash and common stock. The first dividend payment date will be April 1, 2008.  In yesterday’s trading, HL closed at 9.70, a slight negative change of 1.43 or a decline of 12.85% from the previous close of 11.13. 

 

Unico, Inc. (UCOI) TraderNote – UCOI Heavily Traded Yesterday with 40,534,519 Shares

 

Unico, Inc. (UCOI) heavily traded yesterday with 40,534,519 shares within the range of 0.0006 – 0.0008.  Unico, Inc., through its subsidiaries, engages in the exploration, development, and production of gold, silver, lead, zinc, and copper concentrates. The company owns interests in Deer Trail mine, which covers 28 patented claims, 5 patented mill sites, and 171 unpatented claims located on Deer Trail mountain in the Tushar mountains of East Central, Utah in the Mount Baldy and Ohio Mining districts, approximately 5 miles south of Marysvale, Utah.  It also has interests in Silver Bell mine that consists of 26 patented mining claims located in American Fork Canyon, Utah County in Utah; and an option to purchase mining claims in Bromide Basin mine containing approximately 400 acres in the Henry Mountain Mining district, located in Garfield County, Utah.  In yesterday’s trading, UCOI closed at 0.0008, no change from the previous close at the same price.  At present, it has 4.82B shares outstanding.
